Snowflake (SNOW), Salesforce (CRM), and dbt Labs have unveiled the Open Semantic Interchange (OSI), an open-source project aimed at establishing a universal language for data interoperability. The initiative, joined by BlackRock (BLK), Mistral AI, and others, seeks to eliminate inconsistencies in how business metrics are interpreted across platforms—a critical hurdle for AI adoption.
Christian Kleinerman of Snowframe framed the effort as infrastructure-building rather than competition: "We're solving a foundational problem for the industry." The consortium will develop a YAML-based framework managed by an independent body, addressing trust gaps in AI-driven analytics by enabling seamless data sharing between disparate systems.
